Telephone connection

On Thursday 13th December, we are transferring our phone service from our old to new providers. Our new provider will deliver an enhanced service for patients, ensuring that patients can get through to the practice more easily.

However, there will be a short time the practice is without a working phone line around lunchtime. We hope to get this up and running as soon as possible.

If you need to speak to a member of staff urgently, please come down to the practice. In emergency situations where you are housebound, please call 0791969118.

Thank you,

Hannah McNeill

Flu Clinic Dates 2018-19

The flu vaccine is the best available protection against the flu virus. It is very safe, only takes a few minutes and will last around a year.

Flu is more than a bad cold and can make people very unwell. It’s highly infectious, with symptoms that come on quickly and can hit anyone. In the most serious of cases, flu can bring on pneumonia, or other serious infections which can, in extreme cases, result in death.

There are certain groups of people that are more likely to be badly impacted by the flu. Therefore NHS Scotland provides flu vaccines to the following patient groups:

  • People with a chronic health condition
  • People aged 65 years or over
  • Pregnant women
  • People who work in healthcare
  • Children aged 2-5 years
  • Primary school children (in-school vaccination.)

Children usually will get their vaccine in the form of a nasal spray.

There will be a number of flu clinics delivered by Kersiebank Medical Practice this year. They are on the following dates:

  • Monday 15th October 2018 (9.00am to 4.30pm.) – Drop in clinic for patients who are over the age of 65.
  • Tuesday 23rd October 2018 – Appointment only clinic for patients between the ages of 18 and 64.
  • Tuesday 30th October 2018 – Appointment only clinic for patients under the age of 18 to get the nasal flu vaccine.
  • Tuesday 6th October – Appointment only clinic for patients between the ages of 18 and 64.

Joint Project with NHS 24 for Patient Appointments

NHS 24 is currently providing some support to Kersiebank Medical Practice to help book patient appointments and respond to general enquiries for health information and advice.

If you require an appointment, you should continue to phone the Practice directly. Our local team will pass a number of calls and general queries to colleagues at NHS 24, who will arrange to phone patients back to discuss their individual health needs.  If you require an appointment with a member of our team, NHS 24 staff will be able to book this for you.

Where appropriate, they are also able to direct patients to other health professionals, such as local pharmacists, as well as a wide range of health information, advice and support available on NHS Inform.

Staff will let you know if they plan to pass your details to NHS 24. If you miss the call back from NHS 24, please do not call their general 111 number as you should get back in touch with the Practice.

If you have any queries about the joint project with NHS 24, please speak to a member of staff.
